THE REPRESENTATION OF SOCIAL ACTOR STRATEGIES ENFOLDED IN AUSTRALIAN NEWSPAPER

The purposes of this research are to explain how and why Sydney Morning Herald communicates its ideologies in such a way through the social actors represented news reports. data collected were analyzed by using Fairclough’s Van Dijk’s model Critical Discourse analysis (CDA) Theo Leeuwen’s framework representation actors. findings show that newspaper viewed Out group which Indonesian government, army military officers In Group Australian, Papuan activists those who support conflict, terms assimilation, nomination categorization, functionalization identification, Impersonalization. These categorizations serve different purposes. Those related groups express purpose emphasize their brutality, superiority dominance towards indigenous Papuans.
